RMMFI’s Next 3-Year Strategic Plan

A diverse group of about 30 people pose for a group photo outside in front of a building, standing and sitting on colorful benches arranged in a semi-circle. Amidst smiles and neutral expressions, they gather to celebrate the milestone of RMMFI's 3-Year Strategic Plan. The weather appears to be cloudy.

With the beginning of our new fiscal year in October, RMMFI will also be starting a new 3-year strategic plan. We began our planning by conducting a landscape scan plus surveys, focus groups, and workshops with staff, entrepreneurs, volunteers, partners, and funders. Based on all the insights we gained, we’ve identified three strategic lenses that will guide our work through September 30, 2027.

1. Sustainability and Scalability: Growth With Intention
RMMFI remains a vital resource in our communities and ecosystems, and a focus on sustainability is key to ensuring we stay relevant and impactful. We aim to preserve our legacy while forging ahead by achieving scalability through entrepreneurial innovation, with tools like licensing, strategic partnerships, process optimization, and technology investments. By leveraging these strategies, we can serve more entrepreneurs and communities and amplify our impact all while optimizing organizational efficiency.

2. Investing Deeper and Wider in Our Communities: RMMFI is the Go-To Microbusiness Network
With a rich 16-year history, our commitment to nurturing the Whole Entrepreneur remains unwavering. As the sole organization in Colorado offering comprehensive microbusiness support tailored to lower-income entrepreneurs, we pledge to uphold our commitment to long-term engagement while continually adapting to meet the needs of entrepreneurs in an ever-evolving landscape. By focusing on relevancy and meeting entrepreneurs where they are, we can ensure the success and satisfaction of small business owners as they journey toward their dreams.

3. Changing the System by Changing the Narrative: RMMFI Is a Leader, Influencer, and Space Creator
RMMFI champions empowerment and inclusivity, acknowledging the barriers of discrimination and unjust systems that have historically marginalized the entrepreneurs we support. By amplifying their voices, we can address the needs of diverse communities and advocate for policies that nurture thriving businesses and equitable opportunities for all. Our approach combines advocacy, policy initiatives, and holistic support for the Whole Entrepreneur, emphasizing the power of relationships and collaborative ecosystems.

By focusing our efforts through these strategic lenses, our goal is to serve over 600 entrepreneurs per year in 2027 and to deploy more than $900,000 in business loans over the next three years. We are excited about this next phase of RMMFI’s growth and impact, and we invite you to join us as an entrepreneur, volunteer, partner, or donor.
