Entrepreneur Spotlight: Quiana Jones

Owner of Madam Butterfly

Quiana Jones is from Denver, and she started her business, Madam Butterfly, as a direct response to the dry Colorado climate and the effects it had on her skin. She started making homemade moisturizing products for herself and her friends to try out, and that led her to taking a gap year between high school and college to complete an esthetics program so that she could sell her products as a licensed esthetician. The name Madam Butterfly comes from the inspiration of Madam CJ Walker, the first female African American self-made millionaire, and the belief that her great-great-grandmother is a butterfly guiding her.

Quiana found RMMFI through her mother, who is also an entrepreneur and happens to be an RMMFI graduate and employee. Quiana completed Business Idea Lab last year and is currently enrolled in Business Launch Boot Camp, scheduled to finish this April. After completing Business Idea Lab, she took her first-ever business loan, which she described as an easy process and a surprisingly comfortable experience. “The whole process made me feel comfortable because the only loans I was familiar with were student loans.” Quiana used her $500 Seed Loan for supplies and to improve her marketing, and she said that she would feel comfortable taking out another loan with RMMFI down the line.

You can find out more about Madam Butterfly and the product line on her website. Quiana also teams up with her mother to sell both their products at markets and pop-ups around town; follow her on Instagram or Facebook to see where they’ll be next!
